Another month goes by on our adventure!

Again it's been a while since we have done a little update on how our adventure is going...

Well we have been working and really enjoying life in the Rocky Mountains, I have been getting some good runs in too! Been really enjoying running recently and have been putting the extra miles in for the jam packed race calendar summer I have planned. I have been very lucky 'The North Face Banff' who I work for and 'The North Face Canada Corporate' have been very supporting of my running ambitions. They have supplied me with running kit from shoes to packs to running tops/shorts.. And I am very grateful for this! But not only that as mentioned on the last blog I have been given the opportunity to race 'The Canadian Death Race' I have now also had the opportunity to race the following thanks to TNF and Wild Mountain!

  • TNF Rundle's Revenge 50k
  • Wild Mountain Fernie Ultra Trail 80k
Rundle's Revenge is going to be very exciting as Gemma is going to make her ultra running debut here and I am very confident she is going to perform very well on the single track hilly off road course. But before we go into our ultra running summer we have entered the 'Calgary Marathon' for next weekend as a test of fitness! I have been doing the long runs but no speed so we will see what happens... For me it isn't a race as I am looking more forward to getting on the trails this summer and running my ultra marathons.

Over the last few weeks I have started playing football once again for a local team in a small local league. It has worked really well as a cross trainer exercise for me from running. We have been training for the last few weeks before the league starts in June.

Earlier on this week one of the local resturants had a lobster platter on special whist it was lobster season here in Canada. We decided to go as an early birthday meal for Gemma's birthday early next month, and boy we were glad we did it was amazing! It contained the following on the platter : Boiled lobster, grilled lobster tail, pan seared prawns, mussels, fried calameri, pancetta & meyer lemon rice pilaf, spring vegetables & grilled lemons....'

Today was the grand opening for the 'Cave and Basin National Historic Site' (Canada's first National Park) here in Banff again for this summer season, and with it having free admission for the day we thought why not go along and have a look, and were glad we did! It was an experience in its self seeing the Basin of protected water and the walking underground to one of the protected caves. The water is heated geothermally from an estimated depth of three kilometres! The smell was really bad, but an experience. And another thing we can say we did and explored on our travels...

Thanks for reading!
